Understand connected sites, shared license keys, and when to show or regenerate a key.
Understanding How ReemPress Licensing Works
A ReemPress license can be used on multiple WordPress sites depending on your plan.
- Basic: 1 site
- Pro: 3 sites
- Agency: 10 sites
Each connected WordPress site uses the same activation key associated with your ReemPress license.
Connected Sites vs License
A connected site is a WordPress installation linked to ReemPress. Examples include example.com, store.example.com, or client-site.com.
Each connected site occupies one slot in your license.
Your license controls access to updates, access to ReemPress features, and the number of connected sites allowed.
A single license may be shared across multiple connected sites.
Show Current Key
Use Show Current Key when you lost the activation key, are reconnecting a WordPress site, restored a backup, or a site reports that the license needs revalidation.
- Does not create a new key.
- Does not disconnect any site.
- Does not affect other connected sites.
- Is the safest option for recovering access.
Regenerate Key
Use Regenerate Key only when necessary, for example if the current key was exposed publicly, may have been compromised, or must be permanently replaced.
- A new activation key is created.
- The previous key becomes obsolete.
- Existing WordPress sites may need to refresh their license information.
Important for Multi-Site Licenses
If your license is used on multiple WordPress sites and you regenerate the key, visit each connected WordPress site using that license.
Open ReemPress → License, then use Refresh Metadata to force the plugin to retrieve the latest license information from the Hub.
Verify that the site reports License Active, Connection Healthy, and Updates Available.
If a site still reports License needs revalidation or License validation failed, reactivate the license using the current activation key.
Best Practice
For most situations, use Show Current Key first.
Avoid using Regenerate Key unless the existing key can no longer be trusted.
Regenerating a key is a security action, not a troubleshooting action.
If a site only needs to reconnect or validate its license, use the current key whenever possible.
Example
You have a Pro license with three connected sites: site-a.com, site-b.com, and site-c.com.
If Site A reports License needs revalidation, click Show Current Key, copy the current activation key, open Site A, and reactivate the license.
Result: Site A is repaired, Site B is unaffected, and Site C is unaffected.
If you click Regenerate Key instead, a new activation key is created and each connected site may require reactivation.
For this reason, Show Current Key should be your first choice whenever possible.
